Welcome to St. Rose Catholic Junior High School! We are excited to welcome you to our Open House on February 5th at 6:30 pm.
St. Rose School is committed to nurturing students to become:
- Receptive Learners
- Caring and Compassionate Christians
- Young Men and Women who are Committed to Pursuing Excellence by Using their Gifts from God
- Individuals Prepared to Cope with Life’s Challenges
- Stewards of the Catholic Faith
Accelerated Program:
The Accelerated Program is specifically designed for students who are academically capable of completing grade seven, eight, nine and ten Mathematics and/or Science in the three years of Junior High. It provides students with the opportunity to complete Math 10 Common and/or Science 10 in their Junior High school years and earn high school credits. Course requirements are rigorous, and students are commonly required to spend more time working outside of class than those students in the regular program.
Honours Program:
The Honours Language Arts program is for students especially gifted in reading and writing. Students taking HLA are well prepared for Honours English high school programs such as Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate Programs. In our program, students will read extensively, analyze critically, and pursue advanced proficiency in reading and writing. Our focus is on creativity, the development of tone, the writer’s voice, and in-depth literary analysis. Honours course work is challenging and requires both academic aptitude and the ability to work independently.
HSS is a program that enhances the regular curriculum. Students will have the chance to create independent or small group projects that focus on a deeper understanding of Canadian history and how Canada became the country it is today. Students will have the opportunity to debate and create written responses based on a variety of sources and issues throughout the year. They will also be involved in elections that may be called during the school year. Through in-class and on-line discussions, students will discuss and expand on current events in Canada and around our world.
Extra-Curriculars:
Cross Country Running, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Slo-Pitch, Track & Field, Yearbook Club, Broadcast, Photography, Band, Art Club, Guitar Club, Pi Club, Games Club, Science Olympics, Ski Days, Crochet Club, Solidarity Club, Student Leadership, GSA, and Fitness Club
